After serving in the Navy during World War II, he attended university, eventually earning a Master of Arts from Loyola University. As a distinguished and respected teacher of math and chemistry, he served his communities for over thirty years, including being chosen as Teacher of the Year in Carmel, CA in 1962. Married to Elena Vidal in 1965, together they enjoyed over forty years of devoted marriage.
